Why Sustainable and Responsible Impact?  SRI has been used to mean Socially Reponsible Investing for decades, but people find it confusing. Essentially it means acting like an owner and preferring investments in companies that emphasize not just financial sustainability but environmental sustainability and good governance which some folks do even without labeling it.  Check out my blog post on the basics of Socially Responsible Investing here

Folks interested in social impact have begun using the term "investing" to talk about giving grant money to non-profits for a social return.  NWSRI believes in placing capital across the spectrum from a -100% financial return to double digits, and looking for the possibilities for social or environmental impact as well.  In some cases a low interest loan could be better suited to a result than a grant.

For an excellent compilation of resources on socially responsible investing, please see my previous website, compiled with the help of Elise Lufkin, at:  www.nwsri.pbwiki.com.  I look forward to updating and reorganizing that information.
